In Home Care, Senior Care experts of Southern New Hampshire

Hello, my name is Bonnie Roberts. Since moving to southern New Hampshire more than 20 years ago I've noticed how many people in this region could benefit from non-medical in-home personal care and companionship.  Many of my friends and neighbors are in the sandwich generation, caring for children and parents at the same time, and dealing with an immense amount of stress as a result.  In addition, I saw first-hand the issues seniors face by caring for my beloved friend Mr. Tate, the challenges of disabled seniors through the experiences of my mother and my father-in-law, and the special needs of those with dementia through the gentle eyes of my mother-in-law.  What wonderful people I've been blessed to have known.

Unfortunately, today's difficult economy is taking its toll on families and opening the door to increased exploitation of the most vulnerable members of our society: seniors and those dealing with serious injury or illness.  One day I heard yet another story of mistreatment and it galvanized me to action.  That's the day I decided to find a way to help: to use my knowledge and background to serve, to protect and to become a trusted resource for seniors and their families, my friends and neighbors.

I opened Home Helpers in January 2009 with the goal of becoming the best, most trusted home care service provider in southern New Hampshire.  Our mission is to serve others with dignity and respect and to help those we serve maintain their independence in their home, where ever they call home, for as long as it is safe to do so.

As a retired U.S. Navy Chief, former police officer and a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), I give you my word that you and your loved ones will receive excellent care and companionship with Home Helpers. I believe in caring for clients as if I were caring for members of my own family. My caregivers are carefully chosen to meet the specific needs of my clients and all must undergo a thorough employment and orientation process.

I'm also excited about achieving two continuing education goals.  I am now a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) through the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists and a Qualified Dementia Care Specialist (QDCS) through Dementia Care Professionals of America - a Branch of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.  These credentials help me better serve two very special segments of our society, and I'm honored to do so.

Not only am I passionate about serving clients, I am also passionate about serving my community. I'm President of Business and Professional Women (BPW)/Greater Londonderry, Entertainment Chair for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Greater Derry and Londonderry, co-Team Captain for the One Body of Hope - St. Jude Relay For Life team, and Vice President for the Nutfield Networkers chapter of Business Networking International (BNI).  I'm also a respected member of the Greater Derry and Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, member of and webmaster for St. Jude Parish, and a NH Committee Member of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

Last, but certainly not least, I'm an avid fan of New England sports teams: majors and minors, pro and college, ball and puck.  I love them all, but I have a special place in my heart for Fenway Park.  Go Sox!

Call us today! We offer flexible care plans to fit any budget or need.

Meet Our Staff
Rosemary Hersey, BSRN, Director of Client Services

Hello, my name is Rosemary Hersey.  I graduated from Georgetown University School of Nursing in 1987.  I have worked for almost 20 years as a labor and delivery nurse, both in Connecticut and her in New Hampshire at Parkland Medical Center and Catholic Medical Center.  I have resided in Londonderry for 17 years with my husband and our four children.  The oldest two are in college, while my twins are juniors in high school.  It was in dealing with my mother's sudden onset of cancer then death at the age of 64 along with my grandmother's stroke and subsequent need to be put into a nursing home that led me to the realization that I want to work with the elderly and homebound.  It is interesting now to see the similarities between caring for a newborn and an elderly person.  I am really enjoying getting to know our clients and having the opportunity to care for some of them as well.  In addition to the challenges of being a mother of four busy young people, I am an avid golfer.  I also like to run, walk, read, cook and bake.  I am very active in the Londonderry Women's Club, American Cancer Society Relay For Life, and I sing with the Folk Group at St. Jude's Catholic Church.

Jamie Mechachonis, Office Manager

Jamie is a recent graduate from Southern New Hampshire University with her Bachelor’s degree in Communication and her Master’s degree in Business Education.  She brings with her more than 10 years of marketing experience, as well as her sincere hope to help those around her.  Jamie's interest in Home Helpers stems from her relationship with her grandparents.  Her mother's father lived to be almost 91 and her father's parents are still with her and about to reach the 90s themselves.  While family and friends can be very helpful, not all seniors have the advantage of having such people around all the time.  In addition, Jamie knows how stressful it can be for the family to be a caretaker on a full-time basis and how valuable it is to have an outside resource such as Home Helpers step in as an extended member of the family.
